DRESS REHEARSALS
AT THE THEATER
What time should my child be at Dress Rehearsals?
All Dancers arrive at 4 pm. SHARP. We cannot admit late dancers. PLEASE take your child to the restroom before signing them in. There is a restroom in the lobby.
What should her hair look like for dress rehearsal?
All female dancers are required to have their hair in a high ballet bun.
What should my dancer’s make up look like for Dress Rehearsal?
For Dress Rehearsal and Recital, please apply the makeup HEAVILY. It may feel silly, but we want it to not only stay on, but also to show up on stage. We promise it will look great from the audience!
Use black eyeliner on the top lid and on the outer corner of their bottom lash line if you are able to do so. If your child has very light colored eyebrows, please fill them in with a light brown eyeshadow. Blush on the cheeks should be heavily applied. Use pink or red lipstick.
Boys make up should include black eyeliner applied in the same manner as the girls, mascara on top and bottom lashes, blush on the cheeks and lip color in the pink to red hues. Make-up is not mandatory but it is highly recommended.
What does my dancer wear to Dress Rehearsal?
Please ensure your child is clean (freshly showered/bathed) (deodorant used if they are at that age) when he/she comes for dress rehearsal and the recital.
Female dancers must be dressed in the tights the studio issued to them and fleshy with a cover-up. They must arrive with their hair in a bun and make-up done! Boys/Young men should be in compression shorts and a t-shirt. Hair should be combed and heavily "hair-sprayed" to stay in place.
IMPORTANT DETAILS ARE BELOW:
Dancers should wear some sort of cover-up to walk in and around the theater. Many dancers simply wear a robe that they can easily slip off and that doesn’t mess up their hair. Please don’t allow your child to walk outside in ballet slippers or other dance shoes. They should enter the theater with regular shoes and then put on their dance shoes.
For Girls:
Your dancers will be given their performance tights at Technical Rehearsal. They must wear these same tights for Dress Rehearsal and the Shows. Please do not use any other tights than the ones we issued to your dancer.
A “fleshy” – a tan colored leotard, must be worn OVER their tights.
Put on their tights first and then put on the fleshy.
For Boys:
Boys backstage must wear tight fitting shorts i.e. bike shorts and a form fitting, white, T-shirt. They are not permitted to walk around in boxers or underwear nor will they be able to change into costumes behind closed doors.
THEY NEED ALL THEIR USUAL DANCE SHOES labeled with their name!
PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING!
We are not responsible for any lost items. Please label shoes especially!

Frequently Asked Questions For Dancer Families
These are some of the questions dancer families most frequently ask us:
Question #1 -DO I STAY AT THE DRESS REHEARSAL WITH MY DANCER?
Upon arrival at the theater, you will sign your child in and leave unless you have a volunteer position. You are welcome to wait in the lobby but no families and/or parents are allowed to sit in on dress rehearsal.
Question #2 - MY DANCER IS ONLY IN ONE DANCE, CAN SHE/HE LEAVE EARLY?
No dancer may leave early. NO dancers will be signed out before the end of the entire rehearsal. There are many reasons for this. Please do not ask if your child can leave when they are done with their particular number. No one leaves until dismissed by the Director. We are very aware it is a school night and rest assured we are working our hardest to get all of the children out as soon as possible.
Question #3 - WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?
Please feed your dancer dinner before Tech and Dress Rehearsal. They should come with a labeled water bottle. They will not be able to eat in the theatre.
